Being held both May 12-13 AND May 19-20, the New Hampshire Renaissance Faire has moved to a new location that’s halfway between Portsmouth and Manchester so it’s an easy and quick reach for visitors lodging pretty much anywhere in Southern NH!
The Faire now have plenty of parking too, which was an issue in their past location so yay!
Definitely kid-friendly, this is where you will meet fairies and gypsies. Knights in shining armor. Pirates. And a whole lot more that will show you what life was like in the late 1500s. One thing people say about this annual event is that the atmosphere is much like a big family reunion.
There will be live music from the day, fun crafts for kids to do, period games, exciting jousting demonstrations, live steel combat demos, an archery range, encampment demonstrations, period craft demonstrations, belly dancing lessons, even ponies dressed as unicorns. You will have fun learning about medieval history and just a lot of impromptu stuff going on, as it did in that rabble rousing time period.
This is a really enjoyable event for people of all ages, both visitors and locals because you get to step back into history by being virtually surrounded by it.
Just so you know, the proceeds from this 2-weekend event go to some very meaningful charities – the NH Food Bank, Meals on Wheels and two food pantries. Over the course of the faire’s 13-year history they’ve raised just under $170,000 for charities. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for ages 5 to 12, senior citizens and military/veterans, and it’s free admission for children age 4 and younger.
